WordPress Smiley Face

If you are someone who is on wordpress accounts regularly, you have probably seen the smiley face. He is a seemingly omni-present entity that lurks the pages of wordpress, watching and waiting for the time when he will rise and devour the inhabitants that mock his presence, sending them into a pit of eternal damnation to where no one escapes.

At least, thats what I like to think. In case you havnt spotted him, he’s either on the right side of this page, or the bottom depending on what screen size you have.

ConspiracyCatLike chlorine in the water, I think the government is using him to control us. For all we know, there could be subliminal messages inbedded into his creepy, perverted smile, telling us to bow down to authorities. Many people believe the government has powers over the internet never before known, this could be it.

Then again, he could be a spy for wordpress itself. His calming, almost gentle smile could very well be a cover for wordpress’s devious motives of influence. I would imagine his mission would be along the lines of spying on bloggers to make sure we do what we’re told.

Still though, you cannot dismiss the possibility of alien influence. I suspect that in sending a reconissence team to investigate the likelyhood of invasion, they would implement measures to keep tabs on our news and information sharing. What better way than to stick a face on our blogs and watch us from afar?Conspiracy!

But of course there are those crazies that believe hes an html function on blogs to allow access to stats infromation for domain holders, but who believes that crap? I do not know how long this entry will stay alive until whatever authority behind the smiley comes for me. Save these words, for they may be my last!

Opera: Firefox’s Better? Top 10 List

Well, here we are. The last post I made was about why Firefox is better than Internet Explorer. And its true that Firefox may be the best browser. May be.

The fact is, Opera has been around for far longer, and incorparated features far ahead of Firefox. It had tabbed browsing before anyone, and is still faster than firefox.

So why is it so unknown?

For one, Opera was originally supported by having a banner at the top of the page for all users. This was quite frustrating, and led to many rejecting it entirely. However, this banner allowed opera to pay developers great amounts of money to make nice features, like tabbed browsing. Another reason Opera is not well known is because of low advertisment. They do not go to any great effort to advertise themselves, or really encourage users to do so. Why? Well, I dont know. I do know that the users they do have are a loyal bunch at that. Opera even has a blogging function on their site that is rivaled by few. Let me give you a list of 10 of the options that are present in Opera that are not in Firefox (not taking into account addons of course)

1) Above URL bar tabs. If you have used this before (like on chrome) you know its better.

2) Integrated Bit Torrent client. One of the best.

3) Task bar on the side that is not intrusive, but easily accessible.

firefox-opera4) Community and Opera made Widgets.

5) The single BEST mail client built in. Support for any email host.

6) Download manager. Better than any seen on Firefox.

7) Built in advertisement/popup/flash ads prevention.

8) Simple quick note taking ability.

9)  Great speed and compatibility of web pages.

10) Built in webpage shrinker/resizer.internet_explorer_opera_mozilla_firefox_web_browsers

And trust me when I say that these are just a few. Most (if not all) of these options are available from the sidebar mentioned. The interface also is far better in my opinion.

Now after all this, you would probably think I use this as my standard browser. I don’t. I use Firefox. Now before you opera fans crucify me, allow me to explain. Opera incorparates enough things to get me to use it instead of Firefox. Unfortunately, in order to really take advantage of all the nice features, you need to only be on one computer. Things like the built in chat, mail client, and RSS feeds are cumbersome if your consistently use more than one computer. Such is the case for me. When I secure my own laptop that is half decent, I will use Opera standard, but for now I will use Firefox. However, I encourage all of you to at least give it a try and download it!

What do you think? Do you prefer Firefox, or Opera? Why? Comment below, you dont need to register, and you can be anonymous.

A Bit of Info About My Links

March 27, 2009 2 comments

If you look to the left of this post

——————————>

then you will see a whole load of links to sites. I wanted to give this a bit of explanation.

Free Software

This group of links are all things that I use on my computer. They are also all free! There are no demo’s or trials here, only full, free, legal software for you to use. If you hover over the links, you will see a short description of what the program does.

Sites Of Interest

These ones were harder to put in another category, so I put them here. They are random things mostly, all of them good and healthy time-wasters. Combine all theses sites, and you will have the epitome of where I have spent a good portion of my time for the last few years.

Web Comics

I have an entire section of favorites in my browser for web comics. The ones I have chosen to put here are the best of the best. If you ever want to read some good comics, I suggest you start here.

Web Utilities

Although I have already put a section for free programs to download, some of the best utilities are online. This section contains links to all the best free software online for use. As with the programs, these are NEVER going to be demo’s or trials. Only free, good software.

So there you have it, the best of the best links. Just for future reference, there will never be links on my blog that are ads.

Ads are not welcome here!

Ads are not welcome here!

I only put links to stuff I use. If you trust my judgment at all, give them a look-over. And if you dont trust me, you can go jump off a cliff somwhere else, because this is my blog :P
